Frank C. Quesada was elected on April 12, 2011 and sworn in as a City Commissioner on April 15, 2011. Mayor Cason appointed him Vice Mayor on April 17, 2015, a title he held until May 9, 2017. During his tenure as a City Commissioner, Frank has focused on reducing taxes, government efficiency and preserving the character of Coral Gables.
Frank’s community involvement began at a young age. As a high school student he organized the creation of the school’s first water polo team and the school’s first music class. After graduating from Belen Jesuit Preparatory High School, Frank attended Villanova University, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree, served on the Student Government and was the recipient of the 2002 Student Leadership Award. He went on to attend St. Thomas University College of Law and clerked for the former Chief Judge of the Third District Court of Appeal, The Honorable Juan Ramirez, and Judge Ronald Dresnick of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida.
Prior to running for public office, Frank focused on establishing a law practice. He began his law career as an associate at a mid-size law firm with offices in Coral Gables where he focused on state and federal litigation matters and general transactional matters. In late 2011, he changed law firms and joined his father’s law practice in Coral Gables where he focuses on real estate, probate and litigation matters. Frank is a member of numerous legal organizations: Florida Bar Association; Federal Bar Association; City, County and Local Government Law Section of The Florida Bar Association; Cuban American Bar Association and the Belen Alumni Lawyers Section.
Since 2002, Frank has worked as a volunteer and board member for La Liga Contra el Cancer (“The League Against Cancer”). During his tenure with the organization he has helped fundraise in order to provide free medical care to indigent cancer patients.
In 2008, Frank was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Coral Gables Community Foundation. He served on the decision-making board of this valued organization which helps create new initiatives and raise funds for a multitude of city projects, including the Coral Gables Museum, Coral Gables @Home, www.gableshomepage.com, city parks and other philanthropic and cultural endeavors. Upon his election in 2011, Frank stepped down from this Board and currently serves as an Ex-Officio member. Additionally, Frank serves as an ex-officio Board member of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce.
A South Florida native, Frank married his law school girlfriend Anna De La Rosa in 2010 at the Church of the Little Flower in Coral Gables. Frank is the youngest of three children and the son of Frank and Rosa Quesada.
